In this documentary project I wanted to make a social commentary and index about my South Auckland neighbourhood (primarily Manurewa and Manukau) through the medium of abandoned shopping trolleys.

I photographed trolleys where they were found, in the places where they weren’t supposed to be, like bus stops, rivers and sides of the road. Places where they were taken and subsequently abandoned. I wanted to try and show a reflection of the places and people that these trolleys were found in – lower socio economic areas that in some ways have been – like the trolleys – pushed aside and forgotten about.
